Statement

I paint mostly out of doors in the landscape. Color and light are central to my inspiration. Color is all about feeling for me. It is not objective, but rather it is sensation.

Biography

Henry Finkelstein studied at The Cooper Union with Nicolas Marsicano and Rueben Kadish, and at the Yale School of Art with Lester Johnson. In 1983-84 he had a Fulbright Fellowship to paint in Italy. His paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums including the Kraushaar Gallery in New York, NY; Valley House Gallery in Dallas, TX; June Fitzpatrick Gallery, Portland, ME; Simon Gallery, Morristown, NJ; Portland Museum of Art, Portland, ME; and Tibor de Nagy in New York, NY, and of course in the former National Academy of Design Museum. In 1996 he was awarded the honor of National Academician.
